In Tajikistan’s Khushtarita Valley of the Fann Mountains, there are many trekking opportunities. From the small village of Ghazza, you can hike up the mountainside to the green alpine Murgobi Lake.
Trek Highlights
From Ghazza village, you walk down just a bit to the Archamaydon River along the picturesque Khushtarita Valley. After crossing a simple wooden bridge, there is a footpath rising to a gap.
The path is rocky with stones about the size of baseballs. Along the way, you may encounter cows or donkeys on the trail. From Ghazza, it is a steady 1.2 mile climb to the high point. When you reach the top, there is a notch in the rocks that leads to a level walk.
After a slight drop, we arrive at Murgobi Lake, an emerald mountain lake. There are brown slimy plants at the edge with tiny fish swimming in and out of the vegetation.
