Plaza de Bolivar
The namesake of the Plaza de Bolivar gets no respect from pigeons for liberating the region from Spain. In 1819, Simon Bolivar won Colombia’s independence. Ditto for Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, and of course Bolivia.
Museo del Oro

Donacion Botero
Fernando Botero was a painter and sculptor who explored volume and proportions. He donated 123 of his plumpest pieces and 85 from his private collection of European masters to the museum.
Monserrate
Take a funicular or cable car to the peak at 10,341 feet. Visit the white church. Marvel at the breathtaking panoramas of Bogotá.
Museo Nacional
The National Museum of Colombia contains artifacts from the nation’s first peoples. The collections also include art from current indigenous and Afro-Colombian cultures.

Fruit Carts
Street vendors have fruit carts set up in city plazas. They hawk varieties of exotic fruit you’ve never heard of before, such as chontaduro, borojó, tomate de arbol, and sapote.
