FOOD

China Poblano
Jose Andres applies his innovation to tacos and noodles at China Poblano. The Viva China taco is a twist on Peking duck, with thinly-sliced crispy beef tendons instead of duck skins. The tortilla stands in for the crepe and the raw oyster is a pleasant surprise.
Miznon
If you need a quick bite, head to Miznon for elevated Israeli street food. It’s all about the pita, so thick and fluffy anything would taste good inside it. The lamb kebab is grilled and juicy. The tomatoes, onions, and pickles are fresh and crunchy. The spicy green peppers and tahini burst with flavor.
Lobster Tail
At Carlo’s Bakery, the lobster tail pastry is a riff on the sfogiatella. The pastry dough is pulled into many cascading layers to resemble a lobster tail shell. The crunchy shell is dusted with sugar and filled with French cream. The custard folded with whipped cream is really thick, sweet, and well creamy.
Cronut
Dominique Ansel is the inventor of the cronut, so this is not just some fried croissant. The laminated pastry dough is fried, filled with cream, and glazed. The texture is dense, soft, flaky, and airy on the inside and crispy on the outside. His bakery offers seasonal varieties with different fillings and flavors.
Verbena
At the center of the Chandelier Bar, try the not-so-secret Verbena. Take a sip and note its citrusy flavors. Take a bite of the Szechuan button’s flower petals. Your tongue will feel tingly. Now taste the drink again. The flavor of the yuzu, lime leaves, tequila, and ginger are vibrant and electric.
